The History Unfolds
On January 1, 2010 as a result of the directives given to Auxiliary Bishop Keith G. Nation by Bishop John Wayne Leggett Prelate of the Southern Georgia Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, the Strong Tower District was established with two churches. Following the bishop's directives and the leading of the Lord Bishop Nation began the task of organizing the newly formed district for the purpose of supporting the vision of Jurisdictional Prelate.
The first task for the newly appointed Superintendent was to provide the district with a biblical inspired name. The passage of scripture that gave birth to the district's name was found in Proverbs 18:10 "The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it, and is safe". Another task was to write the mission and vision for the district, so that there would be a unified commitment of all churches in support of the jurisdiction.
Within one year the district became fully organized with departmental ministries that reflect the ministry programs of the jurisdiction, and added two local churches which strengthened its foundation. Under the leadership of Bishop Nation the district continues to move in a direction of not only growth through ministry effectiveness, but also to become a safe haven for newly established churches.
